Meta Platforms is reportedly in discussions to construct a new data center campus for its artificial intelligence projects, with potential costs exceeding $200 billion. The company is considering locations in Louisiana, Wyoming, or Texas, and senior leaders have already visited potential sites.
However, a Meta spokesperson has denied the report, stating that the company's data center plans and capital expenditures have already been disclosed and that anything beyond that is "pure speculation".
Last month, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced plans to spend up to $65 billion this year to expand the company's AI infrastructure. In comparison, Microsoft plans to invest about $80 billion in fiscal 2025 to develop data centers, while Amazon's 2025 spending is expected to be higher than the $75 billion estimated for 2024.
This potential investment by Meta is part of a larger trend where tech giants are making significant investments in data centers to meet future AI demands.
Meta is involved in various AI research projects, including advancements in machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing.
