Apple Inc To Increase Its iPhone Production in India

Apple Inc is significantly increasing its iPhone production in India. The company aims to potentially double its production to over $30 billion annually within the next two years, said a report by the Economic Times.

This move is partly driven by the potential imposition of tariffs on Chinese imports by the US, which could make India a more attractive manufacturing hub.

Currently, Apple manufactures iPhones worth approximately $15-16 billion annually in India. This expansion is expected to create up to 200,000 jobs and increase India's share in iPhone production to over 26% from the current 12-14%.

Major contractors like Foxconn, Pegatron, and Tata Electronics are involved in the production process.

As of 2024, approximately 85% of iPhones are still manufactured in China. Chinese suppliers form the largest group within Apple's supply chain, with 52 suppliers based in China. This includes major manufacturers like Foxconn, which is a key partner in iPhone Production.

While Apple is expanding its production capabilities in other countries like India and Vietnam, China continues to play a crucial role in its global manufacturing operations.
