Adani Wilmar Completes Acquisition Of 67% Stake In Omkar Chemical Industries

Adani Wilmar has successfully completed the acquisition of a 67% stake in Omkar Chemical Industries for Rs 56.25 crore (approximately 6.78 million USD).

This acquisition includes a manufacturing plant in Panoli, Gujarat, which has an annual capacity of around 20,000 tonnes of surfactants. This move is part of Adani Wilmar's strategy to expand its presence in the specialty chemicals market.

The acquisition completed within a month after Adani Wilmar Ltd, a joint venture between the Adani Group and Singapore's Wilmar Group, announced to acquire a 67% stake in Omkar Chemicals Industries Pvt Ltd.

Omkar Chemical Industries Pvt. Ltd. (OCIPL) is a private limited company incorporated on November 26, 202012. It is located in Bharuch, Gujarat, and is engaged in the chemicals and resources industry. The company operates a manufacturing plant in Panoli, Gujarat, with an annual capacity of around 20,000 tonnes of surfactants.

OCIPL produces a variety of chemical products, including surfactants used in soaps, detergents, foaming agents, emulsifiers, and paints. This acquisition by Adani Wilmar is expected to enhance their capabilities in the specialty chemicals market.

The surfactants market is poised for significant growth in the coming years. The global surfactants market was valued at approximately USD 45.18 billion in 2023 and is projected to grow to USD 70.13 billion by 2032, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.9%.

In addition to acquiring a 67% stake in Omkar Chemical Industries, Adani Wilmar has made several notable acquisitions recently. It acquired the Kohinoor brand from McCormick Switzerland, which includes premium basmati rice, ready-to-cook, and ready-to-eat curries and meals. This acquisition strengthens their position in the food FMCG category.

Over the past few years, Adani Wilmar has acquired multiple edible oil units across India to expand its production capacity.
