D2C Meat Delivery Startup ZappFresh Buys Dr. Meat for Reportedly $3 Mn

Gurugram based online D2C meat delivery platform, ZappFresh, has acquired Bengaluru based Dr. Meat, owned & operated by by Sukos Foods, said multiple media reports. 

ZappFresh will leverage the acquisition to expand its presence with a foray into the south India market.

Though there is no official data available of financial details, however, as per few media reports, ZappFresh would be paying $3 million to buy out Dr. Meat, which competes with Freshtohome and Licious in the Bengaluru city.

Founded in 2021, by Arun Marupuru and Shivanksha Marupuru, Dr. Meat has its own farms situated on the outskirts of Bengaluru – Doddabalapur and Tumkur. The company offers meat delivery via its app and website, and practice transparent farming wherein it keeps accountability in production and empowering consumers with the know-how.

SIDBI Venture capital backed ZappFresh is said to be in talks for further acquisitions to expand. 

Founded in 2015, by Deepanshu Manchanda and Shruti Gochhwal, ZappFresh is an online platform that delivers a variety of meat and seafood direct from farms and fisheries. It competes with VC funded players like Freshtohome, Aruna, and Eatigo.

According to a report by Ken Research, India online meat delivery market is expected to reach market size approximately $3 billion by 2026 end.
