Delhi based Wiom, which aims to provide affordable and unlimited home internet to the next 100 million lower and middle income households in India, has raised Rs 140 crores in its Series A round led by RTP Global.

Other investors that participated in the round include YourNest, Omidyar Network India, Global Brain, Blume Founders Fund, Alteria Capital, Stride Ventures, Stride One and 9 Unicorns.

The startup will utilize the freshly raised funds to expand its footprint to cities throughout India while investing in high-quality talent and distributed delivery architecture.

Wiom had earlier raised $4 million in a seed funding round led by YourNest and 9 Unicorn, in April last year.

Founded in 2020, by Satyam Damora, Nishit Aggarwal, Ashutosh Mishra, and Maanas Dwivedi, Wiom is a new age internet platform, that buys unused internet from existing internet users and sells it to the people who are looking for affordable internet for as low as INR 5 per day.

Using the PM WANI architecture, Wiom catalyses shared economy and web 3.0 principles to reach its objective of affordable home internet for all.

Wiom is NOT an ISP but a new age platform disrupting how Internet is delivered. Essentially, Wiom is a Public Data Office Aggregator (PDOA) which authenticates users and connects them with their local access point of choice, after charging a specific amount.

Wiom intends to serve 5 crore homes and 50 crores individuals in the next 5 years.
