In a strange and peculiar scenario, Betterhalf.AI – India’s first first-marriage matrimony Super App, has just raised $10,000 from one of its Co-founder's Pawan Gupta's Landlord in Bengaluru.

Pawan Gupta, who is the CEO of the Betterhalf.AI, announced about rare kind of investment from his landlord on Twitter. He writes – "In a tough business landscape, I found an unexpected investor in my landlord. He recently invested $10K in my startup @betterhalfai. Truly amazed by the entrepreneurial spirit everyone in Bangalore shows. Silicon Valley of India for a reason."

Sharing his WhatsApp chat, Pawan showed that his the landlord writes, "I'm investing in you, honestly." He then adds, "All the best and hope you reach the greatest of heights." Responding to the landlord, Mr Gupta wrote, "Thank you, Sushil." In a follow-up message, the landlord mentioned that he has invested $10,000 in Betterhalf's startup.

Bengaluru-based Betterhalf.AI is backed by Y Combinator, and were able to raise $3 milion as part of its pre-Series A funding in April 2021. That funding round saw the participation of venture capital firms including S2 Capital, Quiet Capital, and marquee angel investors like Kunal Shah and Samvit Ramadurgam.

Founded in 2016, by two MIT USA Alumni, Pawan Gupta and Rahul Namdev, Betterhalf.ai is India’s first and only matrimony-focused app that focuses on behavioural matching criteria – compatibility matching with likes, dislikes and interests of potential partners. The app uses advanced technology to create an improved user experience in the Indian matrimony market without the direct involvement of parents.

In August 2021, Betterhalf.ai deployed ‘My Future Partner’ – an Augmented Reality (AR) filter which predicts how one’s future partner will look like?
