The Institute for Competitiveness (IFC) is organizing “The India Dialog” in collaboration with US Asia Technology Management Center (US-ATMC) at Stanford University on February 23 & 24, 2023. The theme of the conference is “The Indian Economy 2023: Innovation, Competitiveness and Social Progress”.
India has charted a resilient roadmap for growth and development through focused policy implementation. To take stock of the transformations in the Indian economy and the social progress achieved in recent years, IFC and US ATMC are convening world-leading experts and intellectuals in economics, business, policy-making, and social development to provide their up-to-date perspectives into the state of the India economy in 2023. Through a series of keynote addresses, panel discussions, and fireside chats on themes of Innovation, Competitiveness and Social Progress, participants will gain an outlook into the future for India and the challenges to its continued progress. Speakers and panelists will address on issues like Economic and Social Progress in India, Water Management, India’s Digital Revolution, Enabling Social Progress through Social Policies, Providing Healthcare for all, Transforming Education Sector et al. The conference is chaired by Amit Kapoor, Lecturer, Stanford University and Chairman, Institute for Competitiveness and Richard Dasher, Director, US Asia Technology Management Center, Stanford University.
As a precursor to the event, there would be a fire side chat with John Chambers, Former Chairman and CEO, CISCO.
Dr. Bibek Debroy, Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister sets the stage for the inaugural session on February 23, 2023 (Day 1) with a keynote address. He will share his ideas on the factors behind India’s recent economic and social progress and the impact of government policies. The keynote is followed by panel discussions on Regional Differences, Ease of Living, Labor Transformation, Water Management and Importance of Education. The event have an exceptional line up of speakers sharing their views on the above themes. Speakers include TV Nagendra Prasad, Counsel General of India, San Francisco; Nancy Izzo Jackson, Deputy Assistant Secretary for India, US Department of State; Kunal Kumar, Joint Secretary and Director, SMART City Mission, GoI; Radhika Prabhu, Exec. Keynote on “LiFE: India Walking the Talk on Climate Action” would be delivered by Parameswaran Iyer, CEO NITI Aayog, Government of India.
In the evening, The Honourable Minister Shri. Mansukh Mandviya, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, GoI will deliver a keynote address on robust health infrastructure developed in recent years and the steps taken by the government to provide quality and affordable healthcare to all its people. A working paper on “Healing the Economy: Estimating Economic Impact of Vaccination and related measures" is schedule to be released at the event. The Paper is authored by Amit Kapoor, Lecturer, Stanford University and Richard Dasher, Director, US Asia Technology Management Center, Stanford University. Rajesh Bhushan, Secretary, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, GoI; Hari Menon, Director India Country Office, BMGF and SV Subramanian, Professor at Harvard TH Chans School of Public Health would be sharing their remarks on the paper.
The second day of the conference (February 24, 2023) begins with an insightful talk by Amitabh Kant, Sherpa, G20, GoI on “India’s Transformation through Digital Public Infrastructure”. Arvind Virmani, Member NITI Aayog is set to deliver a keynote address on “India’s Rise from Emerging Economy to Developed Country “. The day also includes a series of panel discussions on Redefining Healthcare, Entrepreneurship, Sustainability, Social Progress and International Engagement for India.
