PM Modi Launching 5G Services in India Tomorrow

PM Modi Launching 5G Services in India on 1 October

Prime Minister to launch 5G Services in India at 6th India Mobile Congress 2022

Ushering in a new technological era, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will launch 5G services on 1st October at 10 AM in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. 5G technology will provide seamless coverage, high data rate, low latency, and highly reliable communications. It will increase energy efficiency, spectrum efficiency and network efficiency. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the 6th Edition of India Mobile Congress 2022 (IMC-2022) to be held from October 1-4, 2022, at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

The launch of 5G services follows years of intense preparation. Recently, 5G spectrum auctions were conducted successfully and 51,236 MHz was allocated to Telecom Service Providers with a gross revenue of Rs. 1,50,173 Crores. The auction aggregated the demand for a robust 5G ecosystem that can cater to its use cases involving IoT, M2M, AI, Edge Computing, Robotics etc.

5G can unleash new economic opportunities and societal benefits giving it the potential for being a transformational force for Indian society. It will help the country leapfrog the traditional barriers to development, spur innovations by startups and business enterprises as well as advance the ‘Digital India’ vision. The cumulative economic impact of 5G on India is expected to reach $450 Billion by 2035.

DoT has amended Right of Way (RoW) Rules 2016 in August 2022, wherein the charges for RoW permissions have been made reasonable and a ceiling for RoW charges for installation of 5G small cells and optical fibre cable on street furniture has been fixed.

DoT has set up a 5G Testbed with help of IITs, IISc Bengaluru and SAMEER to develop technology in 2018. A 5G Hackathon was commenced in 2020, to trigger ideation and prototyping of use-cases by startups and has led to spurring innovative products. An inter-ministerial committee on 5G use-cases has been functioning since 2021 in coordination with 12 Central Ministries, enabling setting up of 5G use-case labs. Consultations with Industry have been held enabling the 5G ecosystem to make 5G handsets available. A roundtable was held in Mumbai with Investors, Bankers and Industry on 5G Business opportunities and to identify key interventions by the Government.

C-DOT has developed an indigenous 5G Non-Stand Alone (NSA) core. C-DOT is also developing 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) in collaboration with local industry and start-ups. C-DOT has already tested its 4G Core in collaboration with TCS and Tejas Networks successfully.

All these will help in answering the Prime Minister’s clarion call on “Jai Anusandhan”. All these efforts are game-changers for India’s manufacturing and Telecom ecosystem leading to domestic 5G enterprise carrier grade stacks as well as innovative impactful 5G use-cases.

The 5G to be launched by the Prime Minister in select cities will progressively cover the entire country over the next couple of years.

The theme of the IMC-2022, the leading digital event in Asia is ‘Encapsulate, Engage and Experience a New Digital Universe’ and has the main objective of promoting new technologies, particularly the indigenous ones and letting Citizens experience the usages and applications of 5G. The other objectives are promoting local manufacturing, fostering international regional cooperation, inspiring inclusive & sustainable development, promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, driving foreign and local investments, amongst others. It is expected to attract over 5,000 CXOs and Delegates, 250+ Exhibitors, 100+ Start-ups, 300+ Speakers, with an expected footfall of 70,000+ participants and visitors.

State IT Secretaries have also been invited to the IMC-2022 and a roundtable conference with State IT Ministers is also planned during the IMC-2022 to discuss with them about the role of States and UTs in the rollout of 5G, business opportunities, need for skill development and for interaction with potential start-ups and investors.

Japan’s National Institute of Informatics Deepens Partnership with Juniper Networks to Power its 400G SINET6 Academic Information Network

https://ift.tt/UQqJp8x

Business Wire India

Juniper Networks (NYSE: JNPR), a leader in secure, AI-driven networks, today announced that they have been selected by the National Institute of Informatics (NII), the inter-university research institute in-charge of Japan’s nationwide academic information infrastructure, to upgrade its SINET6 academic information network to meet the diverse and complex needs of research and education institutions across the country and globally. With a secure, experience-first network powered by Juniper, SINET6 has achieved 400G connectivity, support for additional points of presence (POPs), added redundancy and enhanced security in its domestic network.

Since its inception in 1992, the Science Information Network (SINET) has aided in the advancement of collaborative research and remote education in Japan and around the world by leveraging innovative technologies to upgrade its cutting-edge network every four to six years. Today, it serves as the academic backbone network for over 900 universities and research institutions. It connects over three million users and is linked to other research networks in the United States, Europe and Asia to support international research collaboration.

In recent years, the exponential growth of data traffic and the growing need for data analysis has resulted in a demand for faster connectivity, expanded bandwidth and simplified networking services. Furthermore, there is a push to expand SINET into Society 5.0 and elementary, junior high and high school settings, making it a critical pillar in Japan's $4.4 billion GIGA School Program, which aims to prepare students for the country's push toward a post-information society.

Building on a relationship that spans over a decade, NII engaged Juniper for SINET6 with the goal of improving its services by implementing advanced technologies such as 400G optical transmission, 5G mobile and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). To scale SINET6’s reach and performance to 400G, NII selected Juniper’s MX Series Universal Routing Platforms and ACX Series Cloud Metro Routers for router network.

SINET6's supported POPs have now seen a 1.5x increase to 70 sites, improving connectivity experiences for the country's research institutions. SINET6 also utilizes Juniper’s PseudoWire Headend Termination (PWHT) capability provided by Junos OS, directly connecting sites using the ACX Cloud Metro Routers, lowering connectivity costs and simplifying the network. To safeguard against cyberattacks, the Juniper and Corero Joint DDoS Protection Solution was integrated with the MX Routing Platforms to enable high-speed, low-load and accurate attack traffic detection and defense.

With networking upgrades from Juniper, NII officially launched SINET6 in April 2022, and it is now being considered for use in a broader range of research and education applications than ever before, with plans to evolve even further as a network service. Looking ahead, efforts to streamline and automate the network are planned for the upcoming SINET7 in order to meet the diverse needs of the growing number of subscribers.

  • T-Hub Partners with IFCCI to Strengthen Tech and Innovation Collaborations Between India and France
  • The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI) also launched its sixth chapter in India, based in Hyderabad, Telangana State
  • The one-year agreement will act as a gateway for Indian and France-based technology-driven startups to scale globally.
T-Hub, which leads entrepreneurs’ success with defined results through effective global collaborations, today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI) to reinforce the dialogue of innovation, growth and prosperity between India and France. The MoU was signed in the presence of KT Rama Rao, Hon’ble Minister of IT, I&C, MA and UD, Govt. of Telangana State; Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary I&C and IT, Govt. of Telangana State; Sumeet Anand, President of IFCCI and Founder, Indsight Growth Advisors; H.E Emmanuel Lenain, Ambassador of France to India; Paul Hermelin, Special Representative of the French Government for Economic Relations with India and Chairman of the Board of Capgemini; MSR, CEO of T-Hub; and Panneerselvam Madanagopal, Chief Innovation Officer of T-Hub.

This one-year agreement will act as a gateway for Indian and France-based technology-driven startups to scale globally and strengthen the robust innovation ecosystem in both countries. T-Hub and IFCCI will collaborate on events and workshops to promote Indo-French partnerships in the technology and innovation sectors to bridge the gap between the French and Indian startup ecosystems.

IFCCI also launched its Hyderabad chapter at T-Hub’s new facility, the world’s largest innovation campus, in the presence of Thierry Berthelot, Consul General of France in Bengaluru; Payal S Kanwar, Director General of IFCCI; and Gerard Wolf, Chairman BRICS Access and Chairman of the Sustainability Task Force, MEDEF International (the most significant business confederation in France). T-Hub and IFCCI also hosted a French business delegation that was brought by MEDEF International, which included CXOs of French and Indian companies, state officials, diplomats, policymakers, the top players in the private sectors of France and India, multilateral organisations and renowned industry experts.

MSR, CEO of T-Hub, said, “The economic ties between India and France are on an upward trajectory. However, there is still untapped potential in terms of growth areas for both nations to advance economically. This is particularly true considering how quickly technology is evolving and changing both countries' economies and societies. Our partnership with IFCCI aims to address these challenges and opportunities that will help boost the continued growth of India-France bilateral relations. It also presents a chance for our startups to connect with France's innovation and startup ecosystem and gain access to peers and industry experts.”

Sumeet Anand, President of IFCCI and Founder, Indsight Growth Advisors, said, “IFCCI’s new chapter in Hyderabad is to support growing French investments in Hyderabad given the strong support of the Govt of Telangana. This is driven by 3+1 attractive reasons: a market with scale, talent for India and the world, supply chain in increasing products and now sustainable solutions for the planet!”

Payal S Kanwar, Director General of IFCCI, said, “We are delighted to see the growing French presence in Hyderabad across sectors like defence and aerospace, energy, technology, food processing, etc. Today’s inauguration is an important step in promoting this city's strong potential and building a strong Indo-French ecosystem.”

Panneerselvam Madanagopal, Chief Innovation Officer of T-Hub said, “The shared goal of T-Hub and IFCCI is to create technologically advanced and globally aspirational ecosystems. By signing this MOU, we will give entrepreneurs and corporates from both the countries a platform and the opportunity to network and grow together.”

This launch follows the earlier successfully conducted 4th fourth edition of the Indo-French Investment Conclave in 2021, focusing on attracting French investments and boosting trade between France and India.

France and India have a long-standing strategic partnership. France is the ninth-largest foreign investor in India, where it has more than 1,000 establishments and employs more than 350,000 people. France is also India's significant source of FDI(Foreign Direct Investment). Also present are 39 of the 40 CAC (French Stock Market Index) companies.

India's economy is one of the fastest growing in the world, and it continues to be a land of opportunity. Telangana's GSDP (Gross State Domestic Product) in 2020–21 was recorded at INR 9.78 lakh crores, denoting a growth rate of (+) 1.35 per cent compared to the previous year at current prices, higher than the national average, as noted in the Annual Report 20–21 of Invest Telangana. This was despite the COVID-19 outbreak in India and the strict lockdowns enforced, which heavily impacted the industries. Hyderabad has remained one of the best cities in the nation to live and work in, while the State, which makes up a sizeable portion of the Indian economy, has experienced spectacular economic growth for decades.

With this important chapter launch, IFCCI intends to promote existing French investments in the state and help them network with other companies within its extensive network.

The chapter launch of IFCCI is supported by the French Embassy in India, the Government of Telangana, CCEF – French Foreign Trade Advisors and Business France.

IFCCI is India's most active bilateral chamber, with more than 650 Indian and French member companies spread across India and France. www.ifcci.org.in

Genrobotics, the leading Indian robotic company has emerged as the winner of The Swachhata Startup Challenge for their product Bandicoot, as the best innovative solution to eliminate manual scavenging, which also transforms the sanitation workers lives.

Genrobotic’s Bandicoot Robot Emerged as the Winner of Swachhata Startup Challenge 2022
Nikhil NP (Director of Genrobotics), Rashid K (Director of Genrobotics), Manoj Joshi (Secretary of Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs), Mr Emmanuel Lenain, Ambassador of France to India, Kaushal Kishore (Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs of India), Roopa Mishara (Joint Secretary & National Mission Director, Swachh Bharat Mission- Urban)

The program launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MOHUA) and Agence Francaise de Development (AFD), at Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi is For Leveraging innovation and technology to eliminate social stigma and challenges. The event was felicitated by Shri. Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon’ble Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs of India, Shri. Kaushal Kishore, Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Emmanuel Lenain, Ambassador of France to India, Roopa Mishra, Joint Secretary and National Mission Director, Swachh Bharat Mission (MOHUA), and Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Genrobotics is addressing the issue of manual scavenging in India with Bandicoot, their flagship robotic product. Lauded by Prime Minister Modi, these robots are designed to completely eliminate manual scavenging and empower manual scavengers by turning them into robot operators along with many other positive social, economic and environmental impacts.

These advanced robots are well-equipped with gas sensing systems to detect hazardous gases thereby eliminating risks of accidents inside manholes. The interactive and user-friendly interface for manual scavengers’ aids in rehabilitation and uplift their life by making them robot operators to help them live a respectful and better life.

“Bandicoot is the most scientific and effective solution for removing manual intervention from manhole cleaning compared to any other grabbing and suction machines. It has special attributes including robotic arms, legs, and vision that aid sanitation workers in precise cleaning from outside the manholes. Bandicoots offer a cost-effective solution for the ULBs as well as efficiency and safety for the workers." said Nikhil NP, Director of Genrobotics.

In addition to many social-environment benefits, it brings huge financial advantages for the governments. Robotic scavenging is more efficient as it can cover up to 10 manholes every day against 1 or 2 being covered by manual scavenging. With huge savings on wages and operational costs, a municipal corporation can save approximately Rs 8000 Inr on cleaning 10 manholes a day.

Other cleaning techniques, such as sucking and grabbing machines, are also available, however, they are unable to remove solid waste, and the grabbing machine can only clean around 20% of the space inside the manhole. The authorities are required to use human labour in this case, however, Bandicoot outperforms other techniques of cleaning manhole blockages by a 100% cleaning efficiency because of its robotic arms that resemble human arms and bigger opening bucket design. For bandicoot to win the Swachhata Startup Challenge 2022, this was a significant turning point.

The initiative has experienced excellent success So far, it has rehabilitated over 1700+ workers across 17 states. It is currently being used by ULBs, smart cities, and refineries. Bandicoot Robot meets 9 out of 17 SDG goals set by the United Nations including good health, clean water and sanitation, good jobs and economic growth, innovation and Infrastructure, reduced inequalities, peace, justice and strong institutions. For its path-breaking efforts, the company has earned the trust of renowned business tycoons Anand Mahindra and Zoho Company as its investors. This technology won the AMRUT Tech Challenge Award as the Most Promising Innovative Solution for Sanitation by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India.

GBT is researching the Development of Electro-Thermal Aware Design Environment for Integrated Circuits

https://ift.tt/kbTEzD1

Seeking to Address Advanced Nanometer Nodes Semiconductors Electro-Thermal Modeling and Optimization

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 29, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GBT Technologies Inc. (OTC PINK: GTCHD) ("GBT” or the “Company”) is researching to develop Electro-Thermal Aware design environment electronic design automation (EDA) technology for integrated circuits (IC). Increasing power densities, cost and an associated greater utilization of advanced nodes semiconductors are making electro-thermal analysis and simulation a crucial reliability aspect. The ever-growing packing density and power consumption factors are significantly affecting IC’s design’s electro-thermal behavior. The increasing variability of processes parameters, particularly in advanced nanometer technologies has resulted in a larger impact of the substrate and metal line temperatures and on the reliability and performance of the devices. Research data shows that more than 50% of all IC failures are related to thermal issues. GBT is researching to develop an Electro-Thermal Aware design environment for integrated circuits with the goal of addressing thermal impact early during the design stages. The design environment is planned to perform a microchip’s Electro-Thermal analysis to detect hot areas in the physical layout. The analysis is planned to be running in the background as the engineers are designing the IC’s circuits and layout. The goal is to create the IC’s thermal map on-the-fly and alerting designers for possible hot-spots that should be eliminated to keep the chip’s optimal temperature. The interactive analysis will be responding to the chip’s circuit’s power variations in real-time, with the goal of accurately predicting the die temperature including neighboring device effect. The goal of the system will be to generate thermal maps interactively pointing to heated zones that may cause performance issues or lead to chip’s failure. The system will simulate the IC’s during peak power consumptions to identify critical area that may overheat. High operating temperature of a microchip will significantly lower its reliability and performance. It is the goal of an Electro-Thermal Aware Design environment to keep the chip’s die at the optimal operating temperature during operation, ensuring high performance, superior reliability, optimized power management and long life.

“It is GBT’s goal to determine the feasibility of an Electro-Thermal Aware Design environment for integrated circuits that can be implemented early in the design stage and therefore create Thermal Friendly design at the point of construction. It is expected that the system will start with Library Cells design, which are the basic layout blocks. The goal of the software is to achieve block level, homogenous thermal dissipation and, therefore, less current consumption and better performance.

As today’s electronic designs are constantly driven by the demand to reduce in size and provide faster performance, ultimately they translate into high power densities, higher operating temperatures and reduced reliability. Furthermore, local hot spots, which have much higher temperatures compared to the average die temperature, are becoming more common in advanced nodes and power circuits. Elevated temperatures are a major contributor in lowering the IC’s performance and reliability. We believe an efficient IC’s thermal design could directly impact the overall system performance and reliability. We are already addressing reliability with our Epsilon EDA technology and now expanding into the Electro-Thermal domain since it is a crucial reliability factor. We believe finding an optimized solution, early during the IC’s design stage, is the most efficient solution to keep the IC’s operating temperatures in the optimal zone for best performance and superior reliability. A microchip’s electro-thermal map should be “green” only and our technology will eliminate the “red” and “orange” zones. Given the immense size of modern chips, we plan to utilize our machine learning technology in our research. Reliable thermal assessments require a combination of efficient analytical calculations using thermal specifications, empirical analysis and thermal modeling. We believe that the key for efficient Electro-Thermal behavior is an early analysis and correction to ensure high performance, low power consumption and long life of integrated circuits projects.” stated Danny Rittman, the Company’s CTO.

The Company released a video presenting this press release that can be viewed at: https://youtu.be/uGXfEvGGTj4.
