Trifacta, the Data Engineering Cloud company, today announced its continued expansion into Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), with a new regional presence in Singapore and Bengaluru. These new locations build on Trifacta’s expansion into APJ, and will serve customers in these regions while also adding top talent. The APJ Trifacta presence is a cross-functional center with team members focused on product management, engineering, business development, customer success, and professional services.

Customer Growth in APJ Explodes As Data Industry Grows 27.8% in the Region

“In 2020, the data and analytics (D&A) software market grew at 13%, reaching $99 billion in U.S. dollars, adding $11 billion to the software market overall,” according to Gartner® Research, Market Share: Data and Analytics Software, Worldwide, 2020. In the Emerging Asia/Pacific marketing, the Total Worldwide Data and Analytics Software Revenue for 2020 growth rate hit 27.8%.[1]

As demand for cloud data engineering surges, Trifacta answers the call for innovative solutions to quickly and accurately prepare, profile and pipeline data. Since creating a permanent presence in APJ, Trifacta has added prominent customers, including SMBC, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Stats N.Z., Canopy, and DataTribe, among others.

Dataprep by Trifacta, the company’s long-time OEM partnership with Google Cloud, has proven to be popular in the region. One customer is Australia-based My Muscle Chef, a meal delivery service focused on fresh, clean, convenient high-protein meals.

“At My Muscle Chef, we wanted to streamline our transactional data as we continued to grow. This meant improving cost efficiency and eliminating waste. Google Cloud Dataprep by Trifacta was the right choice for us,” said Ashleigh Gardiner, Head of Data & Measurement, My Muscle Chef. “Dataprep accelerated the data wrangling and pipeline creation process with real-time visual results and profiling to help deliver higher quality data and much faster time-to-insight while eliminating the need for a high-level of coding skills.”

Trifacta Adds New Leadership to Drive Expansion in Singapore and India

To drive the continued expansion and support the influx of customers, Trifacta appointed Quoc Tran as the company’s first Vice President of the APJ region. Tran brings over two decades of experience in data and SaaS companies, including leading the APJ expansion of Vontu, a leader in data loss prevention that Symantec later acquired. Tran has deep knowledge of data wrangling and data engineering, with more than seven years leading Trifacta’s global sales engineering organization before becoming an executive. Tran holds an S.B. in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

V.P. of Engineering Dinesh Rathi leads Trifacta’s India office, stepping into the executive role this year. He has 20 years of experience in fast-growth product-based startups and enterprises and has deep expertise in data platforms. Rathi brings expertise in establishing and leading R&D organizations in India for data companies, including Informatica and Qubole. Rathi holds a B. “Under Quoc’s and Dinesh’s leadership, Trifacta’s presence in APJ will enable more customers than ever before to take their cloud data engineering initiatives to the next level,” said Adam Wilson, CEO, Trifacta. “I’m incredibly impressed with the depth of talent in the region and the entrepreneurial spirit of our India and APJ team. In just a short time, this group has substantially impacted Trifacta’s success. Continued investment in this region will be key for our continued innovation, and we are excited to bring on new team members across all departments and locations.”

Adding Investments and Key Partnerships Leads to Regional Growth

As part of the expansion into APJ, Trifacta previously added investment help from Telstra Ventures, NTT Docomo Ventures, and Infosys.

“Telstra Ventures is pleased to invest in Trifacta’s growth in the Asia Pacific region. To be competitive in the pace of industry today, businesses must be able to make data-driven decisions and accurately and quickly prepare, profile, and pipeline data,” said Gurpreet Ghuliani, Operating Partner, Telstra Ventures. “Trifacta is a clear leader in this cloud data engineering space, and we are excited to be part of the crucial growth in this region and beyond.”

“It is exciting to see Trifacta’s expansion into India and the launch of its India R&D Center – a sign of its already successful growth and leadership,” said Deepak Padaki, Executive Vice President - Strategy, at Infosys, an early investor in Trifacta. “We leverage Trifacta’s differentiated data engineering solutions to help our global clients explore their data in an efficient and scalable way.”

Additionally, Trifacta has created partnerships with NEC and NRI, both leading system integrators in Japan. Trifacta established distributor partnerships with Hankook Trifacta Pte. Ltd., in Korea, and other key Google Cloud resellers in the region like Devoteam and Brillar.io.

APJ Product Enhancements and Expanded Support Options Ensure Global Reach

To support the broader global adoption, Trifacta delivers on internationalization and localization with a product interface that can be translated into multiple languages and support various currencies, date formats, and more. For example, Trifacta created a generally available localized Korean offering with core internationalization capabilities for other languages. Trifacta plans additional localizations with further expansions.

“Partnering to expand the reach of Trifacta’s Data Engineering Cloud aligns with our efforts to be Korea's leading data management provider at Hankook Trifacta. Additional Supporting Quotes

“Dataprep by Trifacta is core to our marketing analytics business that we’ve built on Google Cloud. The solution’s ease of use allows us to quickly build accurate dashboards that integrate data from various marketing platforms and our clients’ internal data. Because we can integrate all the data into a single table, we're able to build dashboards in a free platform, such as Google Data Studio. We can then present data in a way that wouldn't be possible if we were just connecting to the APIs.” said Nick Guebhard, founder of Data Tribe, a marketing analytics company based in New Zealand and a Google Cloud Dataprep by Trifacta customer. “Dataprep by Trifacta highlights any data inconsistencies or problems with our setup automatically during the build process by showing results for a sample of data in each step of the flow. This allows us to identify and correct configuration quickly.

“Trifacta automates and dramatically improves the on-boarding of our customer data pipeline, therefore allowing our business to grow multifold,” said Amit Gupta, CTO, Canopy, a cloud fintech in Singapore.
