DST NMICPS Technology Innovation Hub on Autonomous Navigation (TiHAN) IIT Hyderabad and The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaboration in the field of India specific technology development, Simulation, real-world Verification & Validation for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Driving. TiHAN-IITH and ARAI will jointly endeavor to promote, research, develop and offer solutions, technologies, and practices to the industry which lets the parties utilize their capabilities in a synergetic way.
The collaboration will also promote the Innovation ecosystem, skill development & entrepreneurship activities in the area of autonomous navigation systems. TiHAN-IITH and ARAI will work together to synergize their technical know-how, expertise, and experience in the area of technology developments.

Explaining about IITH efforts in AV Technology, Prof P Rajalakshmi Project Director, TiHAN-IIT Hyderabad said, “The collaboration will significantly contribute to safe as well as sustainable autonomous mobility solutions in the Indian context and provided greater insight into activities of TiHAN, along with the update on the Testbed on Autonomous Navigations (Aerial/ Terrestrial) in the campus. Ms Ujjwala Karle, Deputy Director, ARAI briefed about ARAI programs in the field of Smart Mobility.”
“MoU signing between TiHAN-IITH and ARAI is a wonderful moment that will bring about synergies from both organizations. TiHAN has been established with the vision of supporting activities related to Autonomous Navigation which will make India a leader in this particular domain. TiHAN will be at the forefront in devising technology, protocols, testing, and validation through Testbed, which shall be inaugurated shortly. Our association with ARAI will enable automobile manufacturers to utilize testbed facility and also workout to offer certificate programs”, said Prof B S Murthy Director, IIT Hyderabad.

The collaboration will further strengthen ARAI’s abilities & activities in the field of Smart Mobility. ARAI has been looking for avenues to disseminate knowledge in a structured way and keen to offer joint programs”, added Dr Reji Mathai Director, ARAI.
