AI-powered road safety initiative in Nagpur
On Saturday, Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, has launched ''iRASTE'', an Artificial Intelligence (AI) -powered project, on a pilot basis in Nagpur in Maharashtra with the aim of reducing accidents by 50%.
Project iRASTE aims to re-imagine Road Safety with the predictive power of AI. For the first time, AI will act as a force multiplier and transform Road Safety Engineering. Predictive insights generated via AI can prevent accidents even before they happen. Over time, the project expects to impact a 50% decline in road accidents in Nagpur city and Blackspot reduction on the city’s road network.

Department of Space (DoS) has entered into a Framework MoU with Hyderabad-based space-tech startup Skyroot Aerospace Pvt. Ltd., for access to ISRO facilities and expertise towards the development and testing of subsystems/systems of Space Launch Vehicles. With this, Skyroot becomes the first private company to formally enter into an agreement with ISRO.
The Framework MoU will enable the company for undertaking multiple tests and access facilities at various ISRO centers and also enable to avail technical expertise of ISRO for testing and qualifying their space launch vehicle systems and subsystems.
Zurich, Switzerland-based insurance firm Swiss Re and Swiss-based startup Climeworks have partnered to combat climate change by setting up world's first large-scale Direct Air Capture (DAC) + storage plant.
