Private and public sector organizations are once again ramping up their orders for PPE and medical equipment supplies from leading manufacturers around the world, global B2B sourcing platform BuyHive said today. The company said that the orders from India for equipment like oxygen concentrators, regulators, oximeters and supplies like masks and gowns have grown by 1000% in the last three months.

BuyHive has shipped over 50,000 units of equipment in separate orders to India in the last three months to private companies, non-profit and charitable organizations including Hemkunt Foundation, CII, Meddo and Moglix. The Hong Kong headquartered sourcing platform is today the world’s leading resource for procurement of PPE and medical equipment by government and private organisations.

"The big reason for this resurgent demand from India is the growing concern around an imminent third wave, even as the country has largely relaxed its lockdown restrictions," said Minesh Pore, Cofounder and CEO of BuyHive. "In fact, the opening of offices and other public places across India is also driving a greater volume of inquiries as well as orders, as organizations seek equipment and PPE supplies that can mitigate the spread of Coronavirus inside their premises."

Unlike other e-commerce enabled sourcing platforms, BuyHive’s sourcing experts qualify and curate manufacturers and suppliers from China, India and other countries before they are allowed to sell on the platform. The platform has to date shipped PPE equipment and healthcare devices worth over US$ 17 million (approximately ₹127 crore) to buyers worldwide – including government departments, healthcare providers and private organisations.

Vinod Agarwal, Chairman of CII, Gujarat said, "We imported 5L oxygen concentrators from BuyHive amidst the second wave and the team of doctors who worked on these machines have been pleased with the functioning and overall quality. The platform has proved to be a reliable resource for managing Covid supplies and we are happy to place more orders with them."

The demand for oxygen concentrators shot up in India during April and May this year. Organizations like Hemkunt Foundation and Moglix were among the earliest bulk buyers of oxygen concentrators from India.

Sumeet Gupta, Director at Moglix said, "The demand for covid-related medical supplies and equipment far exceeded supply during the second wave, and we were simply not able to procure enough supplies from any of our traditional suppliers. The team at BuyHive extended valuable support and helped us procure high-quality equipment in a short span of time."
