Gujarat government has taken a big step to promote electric vehicles adoption in the state. On Tuesday, the Gujarat government has announced its new e-vehicle policy.
Under the Electric Vehicle Policy, an electric two-wheeler will get a subsidy of up to Rs 20,000. At the same time, subsidy of up to Rs 50,000 will be given on electric three-wheelers.
The Gujarat government has announced a subsidy of up to Rs 1.5 lakh on electric 4-wheelers. This subsidy will be directly transferred to the customer's account through DBT. This new electric policy of the government will be applicable for the next 4 years.
In addition to these, a subsidy of up to Rs 10 lakh will be made available for setting up charging station in Gujarat. Capital subsidy will be given for the construction of charging stations. The Gujarat government has made a plan to set up 500 charging stations in the next one year. At present there are 278 charging stations in Gujarat.
The government says that this policy will help in reducing the emission of about 6 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide. According to Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, under this policy, 75000 rickshaws and 25000 electric cars will run in the first phase.
Not only this, Gujarat will also work towards the production of electric vehicles. The Gujarat government says that due to the subsidy, people will adopt electric vehicles. The Chief Minister said that investors and startups will be promoted in the field of electric mobility.
