Bishakha Mahanta, Mamta Tanwar women for their success online marketing to beat COVID


The three day Business Women Expo with the theme 'Bounce Back' concluded Monday evening at Hitex.

The expo had the contemporary theme 'Bounce Back' to help women comeback to their business as they were the ones who suffered a lot during the Covid.

A record number of 150 plus exhibitors have participated in the expo. It has experienced a very encouraging footfall.

It was jointly organised by Hitex and COWE in support with the Government of Telagana, HYSEA, Social Cause, TiE.

Some of the exhibitors include: inz wood studio, Foy Naturals, Learning Space Foundation, Dhaarana Fashion Studio, 101 Flying Secrets, Desi Cakes and many other Hasta.

The noticeable feature of this expo is the majority of the exhibitors were first timers, which may be an indication that women entrepreneurs who were hard hit during the pandemic were determined to bounce back So they have been exploring various options and exhibitions is one of them.



Another important feature of the Business Women Expo was felicitation to two women entrepreneurs. COWE recognized and felicitated two first time women entrepreneurs—Ms. Bishakha Mahanta from West Bengal and Ms. Mamta Tanwar from Madhya Pradesh. These two women rewrote history. They have got trained in stitching by USHA Silai School and went online first time during the covid to beat the covid to market their products through COWE’s Virtuemart. They sold women clothes. And they turned out to be the most successful in their efforts and standing as role models for others.

Usha Silai began its journey to empower rural women to become entrepreneurs and give sewing lessons in their respective communities. These two successful women were identified by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), an organization set up under an Act of Indian Parliament, acts as the Principal Financial Institution for Promotion, Financing and Development of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector. Besides recognizing these two women, COWE also presented each of these two women entrepreneurs cash rewards of Rs 10,000/- (ten thousand) for their success in Digital Marketing, for setting trends and living as an example for others.

The exhibition has also highlighted that Women entrepreneurs are improving their digital skills to recover from the COVID-19 crisis. It is also highlighted that Covid-19 has been the turning point for women entrepreneurs in the city. They are learning to start from the scratch. They are disturbed but not unperturbed, said an insider into the subject.
