Northern Data AG (XETRA: NB2, ISIN: DE000A0SMU87) starts operating its first data center at its Frankfurt am Main location. From December 2020, the Frankfurt location will make up part of the Company's Distributed Computing Cluster, based on its mobile high-tech data centers. This will add to the Company's worldwide network of GPU clusters, including in the Netherlands, Scandinavia and Canada. Feasibility studies (Proof of Concept) are planned at the Frankfurt site in cooperation with research and industry.

Nagpur's Upcoming InterModal Station to 1.63 Mn Litres Fuel and Prevent 7.6 Mn KGs. of CO2 Emissions Over A Period of Upto Year 2050



Speculation is around the corner that about 7,000 trees are proposed to be felled for the proposed InterModal Station Project (IMS) at Ajani in Nagpur . Regional office of National Highway Authority of India clarified that the IMS project is in resonance with Environment Impact Assessment. 

As per Detailed Project Study approximately only 1,940 trees are proposed to be felled. It is also proposed that the maximum number of these trees shall be replanted or transplanted as per the advice of Forest Department and Forest Experts. Regional office of NHAI also informed that a compensatory afforestation of 25,000 trees shall be carried out by the NHAI on the available vacant spaces on the National Highway Projects land in and around Nagpur.







InterModal Station proposed to be constructed at Ajni, with a Land Acquisition of 44.4 acres of Indian Railway land, available adjacent to Railway tracks, for handling capacity of over 3 lakhs passengers per day with a facility of Bus Stand , Railway Station and a Metro Station in the proposed vicinity. The proposed InterModal Station will also save 16,31,737 litres of fuel and prevent 75,65,196 Kgs. of Carbon Dioxide emissions over a period of up to year 2050.

Infraprime Logistics Technologies, the Electric Truck and construction logistics start-up is planning to catalyse investment of $200 million to electrify and organize construction logistics in India. The three-year-old Company has grown to over $50m in terms of annualized gross logistics value of the contracts being executed.

The first project is a 37 MW solar power plant located in Kochi, which covers around 280,000 hectares and is designed to provide 45000 MWh annually. Once it's been completed, the station will become the second largest solar plant in Japan powered by the innovative GCLSI cast-mono module.

The second project is a 27 MW power plant in the Kanto region, which covers approximately 240,000 hectares. Outlining the details of the project, Riki Li , Country Manager for GCL in Japan , explained: "Getting planning permission was the biggest challenge we've faced in this project". After three years of development, the project was put in motion. The power plant is expected to generate 29000 MWh of power annually.

Japan has put great efforts into the solar energy development and has shifted its policies towards renewable energy after the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant tragedy in 2011. According to a report from the Institute for Sustainable Energy Policies (ISEP), the installed PV capacity had increased by 5.7 GW and reached nearly 54 GW at the end of 2019. This year the market is expected to add over 7 GW of new capacity in the region.

Thales to Deliver the World’s First Fully Integrated Unmanned Mine Countermeasures System for the Royal Navy and French “Marine Nationale”

  • France and the United Kingdom marked the tenth anniversary of the Lancaster House treaties by signing a joint contract for Thales to launch the production of the MMCM (Maritime Mine Counter Measures) program, under Phase 2. Phase 1 initiated in 2015 was to demonstrate and qualify the technology.
  • With this contract, French and British Navies equip themselves with the world’s first fully integrated unmanned mine countermeasures system of systems.

With the threat of mines and improvised explosive devices present in all conflicts involving naval forces, countries need to strengthen the protection of their maritime domain, to ensure the protection of their assets and to safeguard the freedom of civil navigation. At the same time, it is essential to limit human exposure to mines. The MMCM program is the first step in the renewal of the operational concept for mine warfare in France and the United Kingdom, based on the use of unmanned systems which could potentially replace traditional minehunters.

 

This is a step change in capability, improving performances, productivity and removing the need to place members of the armed forces in harm’s way. It strengthens the leadership of the French Navy and Royal Navy as world leaders in both mine hunting and unmanned systems in the maritime domain.

 

The subsystems developed for the programme by Thales and its partners include Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USV) to transport and connect solutions and a cutting-edge sonar (SAMDIS) offering unique Single Path Multi View capability to identify and classify threats. The SAMDIS sonar can be carried by Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV) or by Towed Synthetic Aperture Multiviews (TSAM) vehicle operated from the USV. The USV can also carry a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) to neutralize the threats. The entire system is remotely supervised by operators working from a Portable Operational Centre (POC) capable of controlling up to three systems in parallel at sea.

 

MMCM is the only proven system to offer advanced technologies, including autonomy, to improve performance and productivity thanks to the combination of unrivalled real time user experience using big data exchanges with trusted augmented artificial intelligence (A2I) to provide huge improvement of customer trust in operation clearance and increase the security of national interests. As a result of Thales’s open-architecture approach to MMCM, these new technologies can be easily integrated into the overall system, providing the navies with the opportunity to introduce new operational capabilities, in a planned way, throughout the life of the system.

The DTC work together with a national digital ID app to ensure data accuracy and build confidence. Passengers can set up their own DTC via their smartphone, either from home or in person with the help of the issuing authority.
