• Education/Training sector noted 27% M-o-M growth in talent demand, overshadowing the demand posted by all other major sectors like IT/Telecom, Retail, FMCG and BFSI
  • Teaching/Education profiles witnessed a growth of over 30% in talent demand
  • Mumbai reclaimed its throne as top job hub with 14% M-o-M growth in talent demand, followed by Pune

A combined push of the online classes and the phenomenal rise of Edu-Tech domain proved to be a blessing for the employment scenario in the Education/Training sector. Historically, education-related jobs and work profiles see seasonal upticks around the time when new sessions start. However, COVID-19’s lockdown has pushed the talent demand for these profiles into a continuous upward rally ever since March 2020.

TimesJobs RecruiteX Sept 2020 edition noted that the Education/Training sector posted the maximum talent demand growth of 27% M-o-M and 7% Y-o-Y in the study period. Functional area wise too, Teaching/Education profiles saw a growth of over 30% in the monthly analysis.

TimesJobs RecruiteX is a monthly recruitment index that records the demand and supply of talent at India Inc.

Summarising the findings of RecruiteX Sept 2020 edition, Sanjay Goyal, Business Head, TimesJobs and TechGig said, “The Education/Training sector’s talent demand performance is like a comeback story of an unconventional sector. Typically, education-related work profiles are all-weather jobs with seasonal spikes. However, the COVID-19 lockdown forced all classes to go online, and education continuity became a stronger resolve. Add to that the stupendous rise of the Edu-Tech domain in the past months. In Sept 2020, the Education/Training sector posted more talent demand than the other high volume sectors as IT/Telecom, BFSI, FMCG and Retail combined together. Now that the educational institutes have started re-opening - partially though - I feel this growth in talent demand will continue for some more time”.

The Education/Training sector saw the maximum (27%) growth in monthly talent demand study, followed by the recently reopened Hospitality sector which noted 23% M-o-M uptick.
