IIT Hyderabad will establish India's first AI Technology Centre - 'NVIDIA AI Technology Centre'(NVAITC) - to accelerate research on Artificial Intelligence and its commercial adoption. The institute already has houses Two NVIDIA DGX-1TM systems & an NVIDIA DGX-2TM system dedicated to research.
To recall, earlier in January this year Telangana government had signed 8 MoUs with various companies, that includes Nvidia, in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The NVAITC will accelerate research for the 220 faculty at IIT Hyderabad. The centre will focus on fundamental AI algorithms, as well as building solutions in the fields of Agriculture, Smart Cities & Language Understanding.
Last Thursday, the operations at the newly established centre commenced and a Tech Session was also held which was focused on the AI-related topics.
IIT Hyderabad and NVIDIA will collaborate on projects including increasing crop yield using AI algorithms and applying AI-based solutions to support safer transportation systems and better ways of managing traffic, among others.
In 2016, NVIDIA had already launched the Nvidia Inception programme in India for country’s budding innovation ecosystem in Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Last year in November, Japanese MNC, Sony, has announced its plans of setting up it's artificial intelligence labs in India.
