On Wednesday, Elon Musk-promoted SpaceX hopes to make history by making its first attempt of launching humans into space, which is also the first crewed flight from US soil in 9 long years. Two NASA astronauts -- Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken -- have completed a dry run this weekend.

This will also be part of the first attempt by a private company to send astronauts into orbit. Only the Russian, US, and Chinese governments have done so in the past.

This first astronauts launch by SpaceX ii also breaking new ground for style as the astronauts will be equipped with cool custom-fit spacesuits, which is designed and built by SpaceX itself. Interestingly, instead of the traditional Astrovan, the astronauts will catch a ride to the launchpad in a Tesla Model X electric car.

Former astronaut Buzz Aldrin, who accompanied Neil Armstrong in the 1969 Apollo 11 mission, tweeted that the preparations for the mission brought back fond memories.

Notably, US President Donald Trump will be among the spectators at Kennedy Space Center in Florida to witness the launch. The general public however has been told to watch via a live-stream as Crew Dragon is launched by a Falcon 9 rocket toward the International Space Station.
