Bangalore-based Aarav Unmanned Systems (AUS), a pioneer in commercial drone technology today announced its expansion of customer base with addition of two new clients - Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) and Thematic Infotech Private Limited. This relationship will entail the company to offer an end-to-end drone based solutions to a wide range of sectors including mapping roads, canals, opencast mines, electric lines etc.

In 2016, AUS raised a bridge round funding from Aaruha Technologies, an early-stage technology fund founded by Mohandas Pai, BV Naidu, chairman, Sagitaur Ventures and ex-Infosys CFOs V Balakrishnan.

AUS’s Insight-PPK the only indigenous survey grade PPK GPS-based fully autonomous drone will help Thematic Infotech in the mapping of roads and rail corridors while the same product will also help KIIFB in Progress Monitoring of linear infrastructure systems like roads, canals, electric lines and any quality monitoring activities.

The flagship product that goes by the name of ‘Insight-PPK’ provides three times better accuracy, twice the area coverage per flight and multiple times the consistency when compared to other consumer grade drones.

AUS’s solutions are designed to make it easy and cost-effective for enterprises to adopt commercial drone technology and support a seamlessly integrated workflow from data acquisition to data processing to data analytics for different use cases. This integrated approach allows commercial enterprises to automatically and instantly collect aerial intelligence, analyze and quickly integrate it into their daily business processes and deliver highly effective approaches to data collection in many sectors. AUS being an indigenous startup offer much better and seamless after sales support and technology on-boarding compared to very few global competitors which are even less affordable.

Commenting on this new win, Vipul Singh, Co-founder and CEO said, “We are thrilled and excited to become a part of KIIFB and Thematics Infotech Pvt. Ltd. As ubiquitous computing becomes real and present in our everyday life, drones are emerging as the next big frontier of technology. This success will provide unmatched flexibility and will bring true efficiencies to our clients in the delivery of Drone based surveying and inspection services. We also look forward to continuing to innovate and deliver new solutions that help them improve productivity and reduce costs.”

“Our aim is to provide automated techniques for road and railway corridor mapping. Having AUS Drones in our portfolio gives us a wider array of options for helping with our mapping and survey needs,” said MS Raju, Director, Thematics Infotech.

AUS (Aarav Unmanned Systems) is a drone startup which builds next generation commercial grade drones and provides end to end drone based solutions for enterprise applications in Mining, Infrastructure, Urban Planning, Irrigation, Energy and Agriculture. Founded by a bunch of engineers and enthusiasts from IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay and Amity University in the year 2013, AUS is the pioneer of commercial application drones in India.

Speaking about commercial drones activity in India, last November, DGCA released draft regulations on the commercial use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for cinematography, door to door delivery, aerial mapping, infrastructure monitoring (ports & pipelines) and even passenger transport which will also enable civil of drones or unmanned aerial vehicles. Since then, over 6 months have passed by but nothing substantial has took off in this matter.

Recently, we reported on how a tech start-up in Lucknow, Tech Eagle, is working on a business model to deliver tea at customers' houses with a drone.

To recall, in October of last year, Amazon had already filed patent for delivery drones in India.
