It’s high time that the whole of India gets to experience the perks of a digital world. While the Modi government has its Digital India initiative at place for transforming India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy, Niti Aayog has come up with a digital initiative of its own for startups.
NITI Aayog, which is the Indian government's policy think-tank, is currently working on a digital transformation index for startups in the country, revealed Aalekh Sharan, Officer on Special Duty, Niti Aayog.
Digital Transformation Index (DTI) is a tool used to estimate how well one helps an organisation grow and thrive in a digital world.
Speaking at a programme for startups and entrepreneurs organised by the Technology Centre of the CII in association with United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and Global Intellectual Property Academy (GIPA) in Kolkata, Sharan highlighted that the main challenge is to bring the top innovators engaged with multinational companies abroad back home.
With DTI, Niti Aayog hopes to inspire those abroad to contribute towards innovation in India. They believe this is something which will help them in creating more jobs in the country.
Sharan also shared that there’s a need for stronger industry-academia linkages for creating a better ecosystem of innovation in the Indian subcontinent.
Sanjay Bhattacharya, Deputy Controller of Patents and Designs, Patent Office Kolkata also took the podium to comment on the processing time after the influence of first examination.
He said,"Now things have moved online, all reports are available online." Prior to that, the processing time for such reports used to take 18 months before and all the processing was done through hard copy.
This development was first reported in Business Standard.
