Trell, India’s fastest growing visual blogging app for explorers and travelers has recently had the distinction of being the only Indian company nominated in ‘Top 20’ for the global finals of the Worldwide Mobile UX Awards. The startup would be competing on the global stage against household names in Silicon Valley such as Crunchbase, Rosetta Stone, Eventbrite, Alto’s Adventure, Tap by Wattpad, VarageSale, etc. with cumulative valuation of $1.9Bn
The nomination list was put out by a prominent set of judges like Amanda Linden (Director of Product Design @Facebook), Alex Schleifer (Head of Design @AirBnb), Kim Lenox (Director, Product Design @LinkedIn) and other chief executives from esteemed organizations like DropBox, Spotify, Uber, InVision etc.
Commenting on the development, Pulkit Agrawal, Co-founder & CEO, Trell said, “As we pursue our mission to democratize local knowledge by helping millennials exchange travel & local explorations seamlessly in a mobile-first world, we are excited about being recognized at the international stage for our efforts. The consistent feedback from users and refining things rapidly have been the genesis of our product development cycle. The nomination in Mobile UX Awards is another feather in the cap which bolsters the capability of the team and infinite possibilities ahead.”
Founded in November 2016, Trell is a mobile-first visual blogging app for outgoing millennials to share their travel and local explorations in a trendy new visual format. Trell was started off as an Instagram handle (@TrellingMumbai) which went viral and presently driving a humongous community of 300,000+ followers across all handles with reach of 4.9M+ weekly impressions. Since the launch of app Trell has got 30,000 users organically who have shared more than 80,000 unique local experiences about 25,000 unique locations across the world. Trell is accessible on Android, iOS and Web.
“One of the biggest validations for the platform is how the creators have been adopting it, they are sharing ‘trails’ about their travel and local explorations pretty creatively. Also, prominent bloggers like Debolina Ray (Best MMicroblog Award Winner in FBAI 2016), Nameesh Rajamane (Founder, FBAB - Food Blogger’s Association of Bangalore), Nitin Hajela (Founder, TheFoodieTales.com), Reshma Narasing (Founder, TheSoloGlobetrotter.com) and many-many others are using it as a new age visual blogging medium,” said Prashant Sachan, Co-founder, Product & Design Head at Trell.
Trell is bridging this gap between the rare knowledge of such local gems blossoming in the city and a central platform for outgoing millennials who are looking for ‘cool ideas’ to explore things around with its new age blogging platform. As an explorer, you see tons of stories packed on every street - there are hidden gems in college campuses, street food corners which has won the heart of locals, eccentric backpacking stops for solo travelers or a local coffee shop where people ideate for the next big thing!
But if you are not on a walking tour with a history buff, or hogging up with a local foodie or even a knowledgeable cab driver, you might never discover such tidbits.
Trell with its innovative format and peer to peer discovery approach has also been appreciated worldwide and selected in StartupBootcamp'16 - (Europe's Largest Business Accelerator) as “Top 10 promising startups worldwide”, Nasscom's 10K Program and FBStart.
