Frapperz which entered the $100 billion home service and improvement market 4 months ago, has now launched - Frapperz Lounge. Frapperz Lounge is a geo-tagged online community where advice, experience, stories, updates around your home and local communities come together.
Frapperz Lounge lets users browse through curated offerings, catalogues, content from leading professionals, video consult with the experts from other cities and get advice from experts and other users. Users can book the right home improvement professionals or package through the platform.
For the service professionals Frapperz becomes an automatic choice. The audience on the platform is fully targeted as these users are searching for home solutions. Professionals have the option of pitching directly to this audience. Every user on Frapperz has a social profile; so professionals can readily validate the leads.
In the first wave the app was launched in Kolkata. It has registered 20000+ active downloads and notched up a Gross Transaction Value of $10k per month. Frapperz Lounge now has people registering from all over India. Service providers from major cities in India have opted for becoming ‘Verified Pro’. This is an offering from Frapperz to a select group of service experts. There are ‘Influencers’ in art, design, architecture, real estate segment from all over India and abroad in the Lounge.
The app is built by a team of ex-corporates, IIT, JU alumni and an Imperial College of London dropout to provide optimum proficiency by using extensive data and research. The startup has raised an initial funding of $100k. The angel funding round has seen participation by multiple investors led by an Australian healthcare entrepreneur and startup investor Shiva Gunapu. The co-founders are taking part in each round of funding so far including the last round. The startup plans to raise $400K in the next round of funding.
Frapperz is conceived by the husband-wife duo, Jyotirmay Kanthal and Rimjhim Ray, who let go of their well-settled and comfortable lives in the UK and turned entrepreneurs with a dream. The couple has been serial entrepreneurs. In 2014 they launched Unmarketeer, a creative digital firm which has worked with leading businesses and startups to improve their digital footprint. Frapperz was launched in the late half of 2016.
Rimjhim says, “We had stayed and set up homes in various parts of the world; London, Belfast, Switzerland, Kenya, Finland to name a few. Every place has its unique set of challenges when you are trying to set up a home and settle in. But we could generally abstract the problems to a few top learnings which we have used in Frapperz.”
On why people should use Frapperz, Jyotirmay says, “If you take an example, our households were not really dysfunctional before the gas ovens or refrigerators were introduced in India. They initially made people happy by their offerings. And now they have become a habit. They could do it because they removed several unwanted steps from the cooking to storing cycle. We at Frapperz are aiming at this part of home making. We are bringing in technological innovations to constantly remove unwanted steps from the process of home improvement.”
