A class XI student of New Galaxy Academy, Nirjuli is currently the talk of the town in Arunachal Pradesh. The student, Anang Tadar has successfully built a very innovative gadget for blind people called Goggle for Blind (G4B).

Moving around is one of the most difficult daily tasks that blind people have to encounter. If Tadar's invention is mass produced, it has the capability of making this task much easier than it is currently. G4B are basically a pair of glasses that can be worn by the visually impaired people when they're walking and the goggle's technology, which is similar to parking sensors in cars, will alert them about the nearby objects, without making use of a stick.

Tadar's innovative gadget won the most innovative award in the recently concluded Regional Level Science Festival at Regional Science centre at Guwahati and was also awarded the Dinanath Pandey Smart Idea Innovation Award. The technology, which is based on echo location—similar to what bats use for navigation—has also won over the attention of the National Innovation Foundation (NIF) and UNICEF who have expressed their interest in launching the G4B in the market. They have reportedly also asked Anang for creating few prototypes of the gadget so that they can test the same on blind people.

In order to make these prototypes, Anang has asked the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister for help. The Chief Minister has reportedly assured full support to Anang and has also called for setting up a proper institutional mechanism to encourage innovation and support innovators in the state for a ‘New Arunachal.'

The teenager, who loves making robots and gadgets, was motivated to develop G4B after he saw a blind girl a few years ago. Her plight made Anang very sad but instead of just feeling sad, he decided to do something about the situation and invented Goggle for Blind.

The student's invention came to fore when he participated in National Level Science Exhibition at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi, on March 6.

Last week, we had also reported how a Jaipur-based beverage startup Infusion Beverages, led by three Class X students of Neerja Modi School, Jaipur, received a funding of as much as Rs 3 crore. The trio — Chetanya Golechha, Mrigank Gujjar and Utsav Jain — participated in the entrepreneurship fest of their school in April last year, which changed their fate. It seems, the young of the nation are gearing to take the innovation game to a whole new level.
