Bangalore-based BabyOnBoard, a tech startup focused on making parenting a memorable journey for every parent, has raised an undisclosed amount of investment in Seed round led by Mr. Anant Pandit of Gana Yantrika Systems (Founder & Former President of Omnesys).

The other investors who participated in the round include Mr. Mahavir Sharma from Rajasthan Angel Investors Network (RAIN), Mr. Vishal Jain (Head of Projects at Honeywell), Mr. Rohit Sethi (Motivational Speaker & L&D Head at Arthur D. Little Dubai) and Mr. Gaurav Luniya of CMS Infosystems.

BabyOnBoard was founded in October 2016 by Aditya Kulkarni and Dr. Rakesh Shivran. It is a Memories & Milestones platform for parents & families, connecting and bonding the family around baby-pictures by creating a private & secure family space. The team is also building new features for moms to discover the best for their baby & themselves during this journey and take tips/recommendations from other moms who are in the same boat.

BabyOnBoard has gained significant initial traction after launch and is popular amongst lot of new parents looking for simple tools to record memories of their lovely baby’s growing up journey. In a short period, there are 25000+ parents on the platform with thousands of memories being uploaded everyday now. With building the discovery feature for parents to find out the best for their parenting journey, the team is sure that the traction and engagement will increase even further. The 6 member team has bootstrapped till now and will be expanding by adding more tech & content resources.

Notably, BabyOnBoard was recently also selected for Facebook’s FbStart programme, which provides them $40,000 worth of credits as well as mentorship from Facebook’s team.

Aditya Kulkarni, co-founder and CEO of BabyOnBoard, says that many of the grandparent users of the app say that BabyOnBoard notification is the ‘highlight of their day’ and brings many smiles looking at the lovely little one.

Arguing the need for private social networks, Dr. Rakesh Shivran, co-founder and COO of BabyOnBoard says that parents click so many photos of their babies - but most of these pictures go into a hard drive or Dropbox and are forgotten. Imagine this: you click pic of your baby’s first smile but after 6 months, you have 100s of photos of your baby smiling. How do you remember that special moment? What families commented about those pictures is lost in WhatsApp conversations. With BabyOnBoard, parents can preserve, share and easily access with one click their baby’s growth journey.

With the new features being built and planned to be released in next 3 weeks, parents will easily be able to discover the best for their baby through experts & other moms and it will add in our mission of making parenting easy and a memorable journey for every parent.

On business side, Aditya mentions that they have built several monetization hooks in the product, which will enable the company to make revenues from both the user side as well as B2B side by providing solid value to both. They are in advanced stage of discussions with several mom & babycare brands on collaborating.

The startup plans to utilize the capital raised for product development &mobile technology to enhance user experience on the platform and to build a rich experience of discovering the best for baby. There are plans to launch mobile website & iOS version soon to make sure that everyone in any family has access to the photos on any device.
