It has only been a month since the start of the new year and it has already proven to be a great year for the blockchain technology. The year began with India's central bank RBI’s research arm, the Institute for Development & Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT) giving a green light to blockchain and publishing a report stating that it has successfully tested the blockchain technology for core banking processes in the country in a pilot and considers that now the right time for the technology’s wide adoption in India.
IDRBT's report was followed by the news that some of India’s largest banks have come together to build a consortium aimed at testing an interbank blockchain platform [Read Here]. The banks involved in the consortium are currently working with MonetaGo, a New York-based startup, which will be providing the platform.
And now, further strengthening the country's cutting edge adoption of bitcoin’s underlying technology is Satoshi Studios, South East Asia's first Blockchain Incubator.
The incubator, which is being mentored/invested by Bitcoin Pioneers like Roger Ver (who is responsible for single handedly funding the seed rounds for the entire first generation of Bitcoin businesses), Amit Bhardwaj (who is currently leading the Bitcoin Adoption march in India), Michael Terpin (who is the co-founder of BitAngels, the first angel network for investments in bitcoin/digital currency companies) to name a few, is currently inviting applications from entrepreneurs working in South East Asia region.
Started with a vision of building New Delhi, India as the Blockchain Knowledge Hub of Southeast Asia, Satoshi Studios incubator has a 3 month intensive residence program in New Delhi wherein the founders of the selected companies will be spending time with the other Blockchain startups.
