IBM (NYSE:IBM)  recently concluded Smartcamp for FintechHealthTechand SmartCity in India and the finale of the industry wise Smartcamp ended with Deep Tech in Bangalore on December 17, 2016. IBM announced Mumbai-based Fluid AI as the winner for the Deep Tech 2016 challenge, an exclusive program aimed at identifying Startups leveraging technologies like IoT, Big Data & Analytics, Security, Storage, Mobile, Cognitive & Machine Learning, Blockchain, Social, Cloud Infrastructure to build cutting edge innovations across various sectors. Emotix and SigTuple Technologies Pvt Ltd were second and third winners respectively. The event was a great opportunity for the participating startups to present their solutions to a panel of VCs, angel investors, enterprise CIOs, IBM executives and key influencers across various domain.

IBM SmartCamp is a part of IBM’s Global Entrepreneur program. The initiative is aimed at identifying startups in the B2B and B2C space in India who are redefining various sectors using new age technologies. The winners of IBM Smartcamp will be given access to IBM Cloud credits and can leverage the best of IBM technologies around Cognitive, Cloud, Analytics, Mobility, IoT and Infrastructure as a service. All participants will also get an opportunity to learn from IBM’s senior leadership and industry experts.

“This year we added an industry focus to the Smartcamp challenge starting with key sectors like FinTech, Health Tech, Smart City and Deep Tech. We received a strong response from leading startups across the country in each of these areas.  The focus of IBM Smartcamp for Deep Tech was to identify the startups working on core technology driven solutions based on areas such as Cognitive and machine learning, IoT, Blockchain and Security. The forum offers a unique opportunity to startups to showcase their offerings and get first hand feedback from the various industry stakeholders,” said Seema Kumar, Country Leader, Developer Ecosystem and Startups IBM India/SA. “Several startups in the Deep Tech challenge led with a cognitive approach. We are committed to nurturing the startup ecosystem in India and work together to co-create and co-innovate technologies which can be scaled globally by taking advantage of cognitive and cloud-based technologies.”

The winners were chosen after multiple level of screenings and panel rounds by the jury members. The winners were judged on various parameters like innovative solution, features & demos, ability to scale, team behind the product, and the market size they are addressing with their solution.

IBM Global Entrepreneur programis a startup initiative by IBM which engages with the startups and provides them free cloud credits on IBM Cloud Solutions worth $12,000 for one year. With this initiative, IBM also provides technical mentoring, assist the go to market and work with the accelerators of India. The primary focus for IBM through Smartcamp is to identifying the next gen Startups in different industries and helping them scale.
