Kolkata-based digital solutions provider Indus Net Technologies would open an incubation lab in its premises at Kolkata's Salt Lake electronics complex for nurturing and mentoring startups.

The company would invite applications from October.

"Indus Net Labs, a 1,000 square feet incubation lab at Salt Lake electronics complex, will focus on B2B digital technology startups with higher preference to those which will cater to the marketing, financial services, retail and business critical solutions," said Abhishek Rungta, CEO, Indus Net.

Kolkata, which is already hamstrung with the paucity of incubation labs as compared to cities like Bangalore, NCR and Pune among others, would immensely benefit budding start-ups, he said.

For the initial period of three months, Indus Net would offer 1000 square feet of space at its own office with complete infrastructure for which no charges would be taken.

"We want to produce three to four successful start-ups each year from the 'acceleration' programme," he said.

"The selection of the start-ups will be very rigorous. After three months, the successful start-ups will be asked to continue with the company to go progress further in exchange for an equity for using Indus Net's network of clientele, marketing and infrastructure support," he said.

In case the start-ups wished to go on their own after three months, the team of mentors from Indus Net would also continue their guidance and support, he said.

Indus Net Lab is already incubating some product startups from within the company, which include an ERP software called Breeze, a cloud-based tax filing software called MakeYourTax and an online collaboration software called Collusion.
