Zzungry, Bengaluru based food company that offers freshly prepared Royal Indian cuisine, has raised a round of seed funding from Silicon valley based entrepreneurs Satish Vasudeva, Madhusudhan Jujare and a group of other individual investors. The funds raised will be used towards unit expansion and building revenue channels.
Started in September 2015 by Subash Baliga, Sandeep Rana and Ashish Kalya, Zzungry adds a zing element to Indian food and offers a never before ‘zen’ food experience to their customers. The team, with the help of chef Rajeev, have picked authentic dishes and packaged them for easy eating. Commenting on the company’s growth plans, Subash Baliga, Co- Founder, Zzungry said, “At Zzungry, our aim is to introduce exotic Indian dishes to a larger audience at an affordable price. With the new investments, we will be setting up new kitchens to expand our footprint in Bengaluru. We will also be using a significant chunk of funds towards ramping up operation efficiency and marketing. We are focused on building a scalable and profitable enterprise.”
Satish Vasudeva, Entrepreneur and investor said, “Zzungry has a one of a kind offering that sets them apart from the pack. Their focus on the quality of food and the uniqueness in their dishes has received a great response from the customers. Zzungry, with its dynamic ideas and niche offering, is emerging as a key player in the food industry.”
Madhusudhan Jujare, Entrepreneur and investor said, “I am happy to be associated with a young and talented team like Zzungry. We have seen great results from the team so far and I look forward to contributing to the growth of the company.”
Zzungry is also planning for a second round of funding by the end of 2016.
Zzungry currently operates through a delivery model with 6 operational kitchens in Indiranagar, BTM, HSR, Marathahalli, Electronic City and Whitefield. The À la carte menu is priced between Rs 195/- to Rs 320/- whereas the combo meals are priced between Rs 195/- to Rs 325/-. Zzungry will foray into other destination verticals to go a step beyond the food delivery model. In the coming months, Zzungry plans to enter into retail with a new category of offering and will explore avenues like malls and techparks to reach out to a larger consumer base.
