Education technology platform Unacademy has raised $500,000 in a funding round led by Blume Ventures.

Other investors including Google's Rajan Anandan, CommonFloor founder Sumit Jain and redBus founder Phanindra Sama, TaxiForSure's founder Aprameya Radhakrishna and former Flipkart executive Sujeet Kumar also participated in the round.

"Delivery of education in India needs radical shifts," said Karthik Reddy, managing partner at Blume Ventures. "Unacademy is a manifestation of the team's vision to make all forms of educative material so intuitive and accessible that learning becomes extremely interesting and scalable."

Unacademy believe in making high quality educational videos available for free for everyone. The company's vision to have best explanation of every educational topic in all languages. It sees almost 1 million video views a month on it's YouTube channel and has more than 150,000 subscribers.

"Our platform/app will enable a super easy discovery of these videos - we are also working on ability for people to follow educators and get their feed populated by high quality educational content available for free," the company mentioned on its website.

Unacademy was founded by Gaurav Munjal, Roman Saini, Hemesh Singh and Sachin Gupta, with an aim to bring the world’s entire education on its platform in all languages.

In March, Bangalore based education technology startup FlipClass raised $1 million in funding from education content and services provider S Chand and Company Private Limited (S Chand) along with Blume Ventures. Also, in the same month, Avagmah, a Bangalore-based edtech startup focussed on higher education, founded in 2013, received funding from Kris Gopalakrishnan, co-founder and former CEO & MD of Infosys and Atul Nishar, founder of Hexaware and Aptech Computer Education. In April 2016, Villgro also announced a new addition to its investment and incubation portfolio – Vahan, a mobile education platform for low- income adults.
