Cult, a fitness startup focused on machine and equipment free training programs, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Mukesh Bansal, the former head of Flipkart's commerce platform and Myntra's co-founder. The startup is looking to expand within and outside of Bengaluru with the fresh capital.
A couple of days back, Bansal announced his plans to launch a new venture in the healthcare and fitness space along with former Flipkart colleague Ankit Nagori. Both quit Flipkart in February this year. Cult's services could be integrated with Bansal's new startup, but nothing has been finalized yet.
Started in May 2015 by Rishabh Telang and his brother-in-law Deepak Poduval, Cult claims that its approach to fitness is different from that of existing industry players. The startup offers a mix of martial arts, outdoor activities and yoga exercises.
The company offers its members power-packed workouts with an International line-up of trainers. Its trainers include former boxers, rugby players, MMA experts and Muay-thai trainers with extensive experience nationally and internationally.
"We don't have a single treadmill or any other fancy gym equipment. Instead, we have got certified trainers to provide special attention to every member for the curated exercises at our facility. Mukesh training here and now backing us is a sign of trust in our model," Telang said.
