Bengaluru Startups To Display Anti-Crime Gadgets & Apps

Bengaluru, which is the third populous city in the country right now, has seen its population escalate from 5.1 million in 2001 to 10 million people in 2014. This rise in population has been accompanied by a sharp increase in crime in general and also against children and women. In order to curb this increase in crime rate, the Bengaluru city Police has invited application developers, startups and vendors to showcase their software and hardware solutions at a safety tools exhibition being held in Bengaluru from 19-20 December. The City Police seems to have finally realized the role technology can play in curbing crime.

Startups and Companies which are into developing user-friendly, affordable and innovative technology solutions for prevention of crimes are most expected to showcase their wares in Safety Tools Exhibition at Orion Mall, Brigade Gateway, Malleshwaram West from 19th December.

Interestingly, Bengaluru Police has the best social media foot print in India with almost all its senior officials active on various famous social media sites.  According to Abhishek Goyal, DCP (Crime), Bengaluru City Police, “Many approach us with products in for personal safety, data security, anti-vehicle theft, etc. We thought we should get all vendors to display and demonstrate their applications to public.” Goyal gave this statement to The Economic Times.

The timing of the exhibition is perfect as December is being celebrated as Crime Prevention Month in Bengaluru. Anyone and everyone can participate in the exhibition as there is no registration fee for participation. This means students can also showcase the solutions or products that they developed in their college labs. The whole idea behind this exhibition is to facilitate interaction between vendors and the public.

According to the Bengaluru City Police, the event will also help in educating the general public about the various technological advancements and new equipments available in the market. The exhibition is going to be a win-win situation for everyone, as Vendors will be able to find investors/buyers, the general public will get educated and informed about the new security related possibilities and lastly, the police would have contributed in containing the crime.

The City Police strongly believes that crime happens when Criminal-Victim-Opportunity to commit crime meet together and this window of opportunity for criminals can be closed by installing proper security devices.
