Make your videos viral using Vidooly

vidooly

Vidooly is a self-serve YouTube videos marketing advertising and analytics platform to promote videos across various networks.  Videos are being considered as the next big content marketing weapon. According to Salesforce.com, 2014 is the year of video in the B2B Marketing.

Vidooly helps people from all walks of life to earn more money by promoting their existing content on YouTube. It helps artists promote their song videos, brands promote their television campaigns and moviemakers promote their movie trailers. The video contents are distributed through the help of a series of publishers who are mobile app owners, website owners, bloggers and social media users etc.

Founded on May 20, 2013 by Ajay Mishra and Subrat Kar, Vidooly has its headquarters in Gurgaon. Vidooly was previously known as Vidoofy. But due the existence of a mobile app named Videofy.me, they preferred to change their brand name to avoid any conflict in future.

An established digital marketing agency takes around 15-20 days to initiate a campaign as they are not self served as Vidooly. These established companies also prefer working with big brands who can give them a minimum amount of money spending commitment on advertising during the course of the campaign. So, it becomes difficult for smaller establishments and startups to work with them. Here is when Vidooly comes in picture. Vidooly doesn’t require a minimum budget commitment. Anyone can start a campaign at Vidooly with any budget. This feature makes Vidooly different from other advertising networks working in the market.

The procedure involved is very simple. Advertisers can start their campaigns by logging on to Vidooly. They will next be asked to put their YouTube video URL. The next step involves selecting the target audience and platforms which are relevant for their business. Then an auto CPM/CPV rate is suggested by the system. Once that is paid, the ad is launched live in 24 hours. The advertisers are even provided with the feature of tracking and analyzing the campaign using Vidooly analytics.

The grass is not all green for Vidooly; they still have to face a lot of challenges in their working. They are still a very small company with an even smaller team. They want to further expand their wings. Secondly, Vidooly hasn’t been able to get even a single external funding for their firm. To evolve into a bigger firm, they require funding.

The Dosti partnership recently concluded the business plan competition, which is one of its most important events on 30th April in Chiang Mai, Thailand by selecting its three winners. The reality show has been named “The Rising Entrepreneur” and is expected to hit the television screens of both the nations most probably before August 2014.

The competition has proved to be a great learning experience for its participants as they received specially and individually designed mentorship from experienced and well established entrepreneurs, business leaders and investors from both the countries. They also got a once in a lifetime opportunity to earn seed funding and free incubation in both the nations for three to six months. They were even made available with a network of entrepreneurs who helped them in accomplishing their business plans and ideas.

The contest was open to all early-stage startups based in Pakistan and India. The deadline for applications was 20th December, 2013. Even concept stage startups that were planning to launch themselves within 3 months of applying were also allowed to apply and contest in the competition. The competition was only open to people under 35 years of age. While startups having an element of cross border were preferred, it was not a necessity for applying.

Taking 'Photography Against White Background?, You Owe Amazon money

Amazon photography patent

In a very strange decision by US patent office, an official patent has been granted to e-commerce giant Amazon for 'photos against a white background' which ironically means that if are taking a photo against a white background than you may owe Amazon money, bizarre! right ?

The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is known for making generally bizarre and odd patenting decisions, has officially granted this patent to Amazon and the patent is called as - Studio arrangement its is described in patent -

"a background comprising a white cyclorama; a front light source positioned in a longitudinal axis intersecting the background, the longitudinal axis further being substantially perpendicular to a surface of the white cyclorama; an image capture position located between the background and the front light source in the longitudinal axis, the image capture position comprising at least one image capture device equipped with an eighty-five millimeter lens, the at least one image capture device further configured with an ISO setting of about three hundred twenty and an f-stop value of about 5.6;"

The claims in patent described as - A studio arrangement, comprising: a background comprising a white cyclorama;a front light source positioned in a longitudinal axis intersecting the background and number of conditions, so practically it is difficult to enforce the patent with such extensive and specific conditions.

These specific conditions make patent to ever get violated or to know that if the patent is violated or not in first place. However there the patent are being criticized and offending the photography world as much as that a online petition against Amazon patent has been filed to call on the USPT Office to declare the reasoning for the patent invalid.

The petition says - "Take back Amazon's patent right to photography against a white backdrop, and stop handing out patents to corporate trolls!"

But the question still remain that why Amazon filed such awful patent where it has no enough power to enforce such patent. The patent number is 8,676,045B1 and you can read the complex patent details on USPTO or Google patents, or just about any basic studio photography book.

World Lens - A Visual Translation App is now available free of cost

World Lens is a superb mobile application that uses your Smartphone’s camera to translate text in real-time, if you are a traveler than this app is perfect for you to carry in your smartphone. Google, the tech giant has recently acquired this awesome app and its hardworking development team at Quest Visual.

Quest Visual set its foot in the market in 2010 with this impressive application. Back then, it seemed highly impossible but World Lens proved everyone wrong as it was very efficiently able to translate many different languages in real time by just using the user’s Smartphone camera. The app comes in handy when you are travelling abroad as the user can easily translate anything and everything into his or her native language just by holding the phone to that particular sign which you want to translate and the phone’s camera would instantly translate the sign. It makes the life of a traveler easier and safe.

The immediate impact of Google's acquisition of the application has been that now the app is available free of cost across platforms. In addition to this, the language packs that were earlier attainable only through in-app purchase have also been made free now.

This free feature of the app is only available for a limited period of time. The company hasn't said anything about how long the app would remain free but all you travelers out there, it is highly recommended that you download it right away as it acts as your friend in a deserted foreign land.

Currently, the app can translate between Spanish, German, Italian, Russian and French, and English and Portuguese. This superb technology has now found its way into Google Translate. The app doesn't require an internet connection to function which is a very big plus point for its users.

But the magnificent app does have its problems too. Sometimes the translations can have grammatical mistakes and a particular style of handwriting or text can also act as a hindrance in its working.

The acquisition news was shared on Quest Visual’s official website but no information was divulged about any financial terms. The only communication which came was that the app has been made free on Google Play store and Apple App store.

Google, the technology titan is all prepared to launch a 7-inch tablet which will come power packed with advanced vision capabilities. The tablet has been designed under Google’s much talked about project, Project Tango. According to people who are closely associated with the project, some 4,000 prototypes of the tablet can be expected to hit the markets next month.

The tablet will not be a repetition of Google’s Nexus slate and will definitely be better in performance. The 7-inch tablet can be expected to have advanced software, two cameras in the rear and infrared sensors which will equip it to capture exceptionally beautiful three-dimensional images. The tablet may be launched before Google’s annual developer conference which takes place in June.

The only problem that the new tablet might offer is that the technology used by the tablet to function can prove to be too forward for many programmers. Currently, most programmers are used to and comfortable in manufacturing apps for less mechanical slates and Smartphones. Only recently have some people started trying wearables and only a few have managed to enter the domain of 3-D imaging.

The technology giant launched its Project Tango in February this year. The project aims at giving a human scale understanding of space and motion to mobile devices via robotics and computer vision. The project had even unveiled a Smartphone in February which was designed on similar lines as the tablet with sensors that was equipped to create a 3-D map of the user’s surroundings.

The Smartphone prototype comes loaded with 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM, Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, 64 GB of internal storage and a microSD slot.  It also comes with a depth sensing array, a 4 megapixel rear camera and an infrared projector. How many of these features will be able to find a place in the new tablet is yet to be seen.

Lucknow teenager becomes PM of India for half an hour

quesir-pmoindia

Qasari Ali, a 19 year old teenager from Lucknow recently found himself embroiled in a controversy when he acquired the @PMOIndia twitter handle for himself. @PMOIndia is the official twitter handle for Prime Minister of India.

As a result of the 16th May Lok Sabha elections the UPA government had to make way for the NDA government at centre. But the outgoing government which handled and started the twitter handle refused to pass on the same to the new government. This action taken by the UPA government has led to a political battle between the two parties with the BJP accusing UPA of misusing the national digital asset.  According to BJP, @PMOIndia is a national asset which should have seamlessly passed on to the incoming government.

Instead of passing on the twitter handle, Congress went ahead and archived the tweets under a new handle @PMOIndiaArchive making the @PMOIndia handle available.

Amid all this, Ali thought of changing his twitter username as his existing one was very long. He checked out if @PMOIndia was available and seeing its availability, he immediately saved it for himself and started using it. But his new twitter username existed only for 30 minutes. Ali’s account went back to its previous username within half an hour without any explanations from twitter.

This handlegate has left a big impression on Ali’s life. When his parents found about his doings, they scolded him left and right and asked him to apologize to the entire nation. Following their instructions, he immediately put up a tweet through his twitter handle @IAmQaiserAli apologizing to the entire nation. His tweet said “Apology for taking the name of @PMOIndia. I did it because it was vacant. Apologies.” Even after apologizing to the people of the country, he still fears that the police would knock at his doors any minute and arrest him.

Qaiser has no intentions of pursuing a political career whatsoever and instead he wants to be an entrepreneur. He has even started his journey towards his dream by launching a social networking site Picxter.

Meanwhile, Omar Abdullah, chief minister Jammu and Kashmir came out in support of the Lucknow teenager. He tweeted “Poor chap probably never imagined this publicity”.

Samsung, the tech giant has come up with a smartwatch that will let its users receive data and make calls without pairing it to a Smartphone which means it will have its own SIM card slot. This is indeed a ‘smart’ watch. The South Korean company is reported to unveil its latest innovation sometime in mid summer in June or July. The company is currently the top seller of Smartwatches in the world.

The wrist watch will be made on similar lines as the ones that are currently available in the market except it won’t require the support of your phone to function. The currently available wristwatches work as a Bluetooth handset when they are used for voice calls and require the support of a paired Smartphone for making actual calls.

The smartwatch will also be able to send mails and take photographs. It will also reportedly come power packed with a heart monitor, Bluetooth and GPS. The Smartphone bestseller is touted to be currently in talks with some top telecom carriers in Europe, South Korea and the United States about the smart device.

The watch will most probably work on Tizen which is the company’s homegrown Operating system which it co-developed with Intel Corporation. Till now there is no confirmed news about what would be the smartwatch named and whether people will be able to call by holding the wrist watch up to their mouth.

The smartwatch will have its own SIM card and will be the only such device created by a major company available in the market. The watch aims at making your life simpler and lighter by replacing your mobile phones.

Smartwatches don’t enjoy much status quo in the market right now but with this invention, thing are expected to change for better. Though some experts do believe that even the existing smart watches from the company don’t offer a great experience to its users, thus paying for that bad experience when a great experience is available on your current phones is highly doubted. For them, Things can only change if Samsung is able to pull off a device which is able to provide an experience at par with a Smartphone.

12 technology based companies made it to the list which is exceptional as it is more than any other industry. Facebook has been ranked the No.2 tech company and No.3 overall in the list released by Glassdoor. According to Allyson Willoughby, Senior Vice President of People, Glassdoor, what makes Facebook different from its contemporaries is that the people working in it are exceptionally satisfied and happy with the benefit packages and compensations they are receiving from the company. Further they are also receiving a lot of exciting perks like free messages, free food, on-site chiropractic care, vending machines, a mesmerizing Menlo Park campus along with a great salary and good healthcare facilities. All these things make an excellent environment for employees to work in.

The difference between Facebook and Google if we go by ratings is very minuscule. Google, which showers its employees with fabulous perks, has been given the first rank by Glassdoor with an average rating of 4.4 out of 5.  On the other hand Facebook has come in a close third with 4.3 out of 5 on the list.

Costco, which graced the number 2 position on the list, is the one and only retailer to fetch a position on the list. One company each from energy, insurance, travel industry and transportation also managed to book a place in the list.  No fast food company got featured on the Glassdoor list.
