Throughout NIWeek, Xilinx will conduct demonstrations and technical sessions based on the LabVIEW FPGA Module. The sessions will focus on aerospace, industrial, medical and wireless applications. In addition, the company will join the Wednesday keynote address to show how its new rad-hard Virtex?-5QV FPGA, the industry's first high-density reconfigurable chip, is well-suited for space applications.
National Instruments (NI) and Xilinx have successfully collaborated for nearly a decade to enable customers to utilize the LabVIEW graphical programming environment to target Xilinx's flagship FPGAs on NI LabVIEW FPGA platforms for system designs in a variety of end markets.
What: NIWeek 2010 Where: Austin, Texas Convention Center When: Aug. 3-5
Tuesday, Aug. 3
Technical Sessions
LabVIEW FPGA for Aerospace & Defense Applications
3:30 - 4:30 p.m., Room 16A
FPGAs save months of development time compared to ASIC solutions, but they're sensitive to radiation, constraining their use in space to a complex, triple-redundant form. This session explores the use of LabVIEW FPGA for programming a new single-event-upset immune reconfigurable Virtex-5QV FPGA, making LabVIEW FPGA more applicable in satellite and space applications.
Using Xilinx IP and the COREGenerator System in LabVIEW FPGA
4:45 - 5:45 p.m., Room 16A
Conference attendees will learn more about Xilinx intellectual property (IP) and how to take advantage of COREGenerator(TM) within LabVIEW FPGA. COREGenerator is the Xilinx standard generation and delivery mechanism for Xilinx and third-party IP.
Wednesday, Aug. 4
Keynote Address by Jeff Kodosky and John Pasquarette of National Instruments with Xilinx presentation on FPGAs in space.
8:30 - 10:30 a.m., Ballroom G
Amit Dhir, Xilinx senior director for aerospace, defense and high-performance computing, will join the keynote presentation alongside Thom Kreider from Honeywell to discuss rad-hard FPGAs for space applications.
Xilinx Demonstrations
Throughout the week, Xilinx will demonstrate FPGA solutions for National Instruments products at Xilinx booth #420 focused on a variety of end markets, including industrial, medical, aerospace and wireless. The company will also demonstrate an academic digital design solution for electronic simulation and verification.
LTE Baseband Prototyping Solution - Demonstration of an NI PXI platform-based solution for fast LTE PHY layer design prototyping.
Medical Prototyping Solution - Demonstration of a low-cost prototyping solution for biomedical applications - showcased through a fetal ECG signal simulation.
Real-time High-definition Video Processing - Demonstration of Xilinx video IP seamlessly integrating with LabVIEW FPGA, showcasing the extensive library of Xilinx IP available to designers for faster time-to-market.
Academic Digital Design Solution- Demonstration of an FPGA-based digital electronics simulation and verification solution for academic-use. Designs can be easily exported via VHDL from NI Multisim software to Xilinx ISE? design tools, and verified on a FPGA starter board. The demo is supported by the Xilinx University Program that has fostered strong ties with universities around the world--collaborating on leading-edge projects and providing critical training and development tools.
